  I like the fact that it’s a dish that allows you to enjoy many different flavours depending on the ingredients you cook with, such as seasonal vegetables.

  I find these colours to be easy to work with for various occasions, be it laid-back outfits on days off, or business casual styles.

Tell us the name of your favourite watch.

It’s the M34 F7 Semi Skeleton (model RE-BY0007A), which is a current model. I bought it last year in December 2023.

What attracted you to the watch?

The design of this model was inspired by auroras, and the dial is made out of mother of pearl. Generally, mother of pearl dials give off a luxurious feel due the shell pattern, and because of this, they might feel a bit excessive for daily wear. But the shininess of the pearl is toned down on this model, and the shades shift depending on your angle of view or the amount of light hitting it. These elements are what attracted me to the watch.

Which parts do you particularly like about the watch?

In terms of design, the 40 mm case feels comfortable to wear and is easy to use. And above all, the soft brown-coloured dial goes well with my daily style. In terms of functionality and performance, the anti-reflective coating on both sides of the glass provides high visibility at every angle.

Can you share any special memories or anecdotes about this watch?

The biggest struggle for us during the product planning stage was in trying to faithfully reproduce our vision of the dial. We sought to develop a dial that took advantage of the elegant texture of the shell yet subtly shifted its appearance in a way that made it more suited to daily wear. Natural shells are inherently unique, so it was extremely difficult to control the consistency of the dial’s appearance. We tried various methods, such as adjusting the thickness of the paint sprayed over the shell or applying a gradation effect. After testing many different versions and going through a series of trial and error, we finally managed to complete the watch for commercial release.

Which model would you recommend right now?

The authentic design of the M34 F8 DATE (model RE-BX0004L) features a navy-coloured dial that can be worn on any occasion, and a bold, hand-carved stamped pattern evoking the Perseids meteor shower. The captivating spatial depiction of the deep night sky is achieved using a newly developed optical multilayer technology, which is another reason why I recommend this model.

What points do you consider when choosing a watch?

I generally focus on the colours of the dial and leather strap, because I like styling my watches to suit a particular outfit or mood. When I don’t have the right watch for an outfit I’m wearing, it makes me want to buy a new one. Versatile watches are great, but models featuring more style-oriented designs that only get worn several times a year are equally important to me.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

The fashionable T says he especially loves Italian brands, because they are known for challenging themselves to create something new while adhering to tradition. The outfit he wore on the day of the shoot consisted almost entirely of Italian items. As an aside, apparently all of his watches but one – the model worn in the photograph – have leather straps, but he says, “I find watches with metal bracelets to be convenient because they can be worn for a wide range of occasions!”
